Melancholy of Night

The night heaves a deep sigh,
For departed day and a morning gone,
Contemptible clouds gesticulate
An unbearable longing for a distant dawn.

Exotic eyes rescind tears,
Returning sadness to its source,
Like the reluctant rivers that flow uphill
Pining for a once forgotten force.

Climbing hills genuflect to their valleys,
As darkness melts into obscurity.
Neglect seizes the moon and stars,
As nightfall cloaks its own vanity.
